Why? Why not?
Hair is just as dirty at the end of the day as our bodies and our teeth, so why treat them differently?
Sebum from the scalp is produced daily. This makes the scalp and hair sufficiently sticky for dust, dirt, particles of dirt in the air, such as fumes form cars, cooking smoking etc, to stick to it. It is a myth from the past when there were no shampoos available to shampoo the hair with and no easy means of drying the hair that still hangs on in the 21st century. In the same era it was not advisable to bath or wash the hair during the menses!
Do we want to go back to those days? I don’t think so.
My hair is oily, shampooing just makes more oil appear.
Not if you do not massage the scalp whilst washing it.
Always use a shampoo designed for oily hair, or a very mild product.
Use a conditioner also for oily hair and if it is long hair then treat only the ends with conditioner.
My hair is very dry, shampooing it too often causes it to dry out more.
If your hair is dry, it needs washing just as often. It can then be conditioned daily, which helps the moisture content of the hair to be retained.
Also, use a spray on / leave in conditioner.
My hair is normal, it does not need washing daily
Your hair will be just as dirty as the rest of your body, it needs daily washing and conditioning.
Do not brush hair that is long, particularly if it is fine. Brushing tangles long hair causing breakage. Use a wide toothed comb
Use the drier on hot, only when the hair is very wet. Then, turn it down and keep it moving so that the heat does not damage the hair.
Straightening hair with hot tongs.
Keep the tongs moving all the time.
Always use a heat protective serum designed to protect the hair from heat.
Did you know that the hair, even when dry contains approximately 10% of water.
Keeping the tongs still for any length of time can actually cause the water inside the hair to boil! This shatters the hair shaft.
